From 8c0540bdb5e639cc5e6f1caa75195e9c314b4cc1 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Prathamesh Musale Date: Thu, 7 Mar 2024 12:35:59 +0000 Subject: [PATCH] Add a test network setup and patch for E2E tests (#18) - The E2E tests sometimes fail with error `timeout exceeded waiting for block` in CI (always passed locally) - The error occurs in the test network (provided in cosmos-sdk) creation when [waiting](https://github.com/cosmos/cosmos-sdk/blob/v0.50.3/testutil/network/network.go#L622) for the first block because of block timeout being too short ([hardcoded](https://github.com/cosmos/cosmos-sdk/blob/v0.50.3/testutil/network/network.go#L670) to 5s) - Copy over this network setup in the repo and patch to skip this check; we are waiting for a block to appear after the network creation anyway Reviewed-on: https://git.vdb.to/deep-stack/laconic2d/pulls/18 Co-authored-by: Prathamesh Musale Co-committed-by: Prathamesh Musale --- tests/e2e/auction/cli_test.go | 2 +- tests/e2e/auction/suite.go | 2 +- tests/e2e/bond/cli_test.go | 2 +- tests/e2e/bond/suite.go | 2 +- tests/e2e/common.go | 2 +- tests/e2e/registry/cli_test.go | 2 +- tests/e2e/registry/suite.go | 2 +- testutil/network/doc.go | 72 +++ testutil/network/network.go | 864 +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ testutil/network/util.go | 236 +++++++++ 10 files changed, 1179 insertions(+), 7 deletions(-) create mode 100644 testutil/network/doc.go create mode 100644 testutil/network/network.go create mode 100644 testutil/network/util.go diff --git a/tests/e2e/auction/cli_test.go b/tests/e2e/auction/cli_test.go index aac55bcce..a38683ab2 100644 --- a/tests/e2e/auction/cli_test.go +++ b/tests/e2e/auction/cli_test.go @@ -3,10 +3,10 @@ package auction import ( "testing" - This +test network can be used primarily for integration tests or unit test suites. + +The test network utilizes SimApp as the ABCI application and uses all the modules +defined in the Cosmos SDK. An in-process test network can be configured with any +number of validators as well as account funds and even custom genesis state. + +When creating a test network, a series of Validator objects are returned. Each +Validator object has useful information such as their address and public key. A +Validator will also provide its RPC, P2P, and API addresses that can be useful +for integration testing. In addition, a CometBFT local RPC client is also provided +which can be handy for making direct RPC calls to CometBFT. + +Note, due to limitations in concurrency and the design of the RPC layer in +CometBFT, only the first Validator object will have an RPC and API client +exposed.
