## Description
removes the dependency of tendermint/utils/log from countless locations. This is in effort of reducing Tendermint's lib usage in the sdk
this is nonbreaking as the interface is the same. To eliminate tm/utils/log in the sdk we need a few more things. Once we have fully removed the tendermint logger, I would propose we break the interface and define our own for our use case, when we pass the logger to tendermint in the node.New() function we can wrap our logger for its use case

## Description
Both slashing and distribution simulator is using ugly casting from the nice interface type to:
```go
stakeKeeper := sk.(*stakingkeeper.Keeper)
```
This creates additional dependency for `staking/keeper` package in other modules, and requires type of a specific type (here reference type, in 0.46 it's even worse - because it uses object type).
EXTRA:
* removed `stakingkeepr.RandomValidator` function (which btw, was also weird, because it was in the keeper module and required Keeper as an argument) and created generic `testutil.RandSliceElem` function.

## Description
There are still some references to simapp in `x/bank` and `x/slashing`. This patch removes them. Somewhat related to forming tests also:
- Flags `LegacySubspace exported.Subspace` as ``optional:"true"`` since x/params is moving to deprecation

## Description

## Description
Most modules right now have a no-op for AppModule.BeginBlock and AppModule.EndBlock. We should move these methods off the AppModule interface so we have less deadcode, and instead move them to extension interfaces.
1. I added `BeginBlockAppModule` and `EndBlockAppModule` interface.
2. Remove the dead-code from modules that do no implement them
3. Add type casting in the the module code to use the new interface

## Description
When locally working with golangci-lint, we can see that there were many deprecation warnings about sdk.Int. This PR resolves that and makes 1-2 other linting related changes. Issue on linting coming next.
This also moves BitCurve to bitCurve.
I expect that this set of changes will require several pull requests, one of them to the settings for the linter.
It also does a gofumpt, because we had various formatting-related linters fail, too.

## Description
Closes: #8961
SDK allows InitGenesis to return with an empty validator set. In practice, the error for an empty validator set gets thrown in tendermint. To fix this,
* Add non-empty validator set check to the `mm.InitGenesis` function. This will break `simapp.Setup` because it relies on an empty validator set [#comment](https://github.com/cosmos/cosmos-sdk/pull/8909#issuecomment-804850834).
* Update `simapp.Setup` to use a single validator.
* Fix failing tests (Most of them are keeper tests).

## Description
ref: #9585
This PR if the 1st step (out of 2) in the #9585 refactor. It transforms baseapp's ABCI {Check,Deliver}Tx into middleware stacks. A middleware is defined by the following interfaces:
```go
// types/tx package
type Handler interface {
CheckTx(ctx context.Context, tx sdk.Tx, req abci.RequestCheckTx) (abci.ResponseCheckTx, error)
DeliverTx(ctx context.Context, tx sdk.Tx, req abci.RequestDeliverTx) (abci.ResponseDeliverTx, error)
SimulateTx(ctx context.Context, tx sdk.Tx, req RequestSimulateTx) (ResponseSimulateTx, error)
}
type Middleware func(Handler) Handler
```
This Pr doesn't migrate antehandlers, but only baseapp's runTx and runMsgs as middlewares. It bundles antehandlers into one single middleware (for now).
More specifically, it introduces the 5 following middlewares:
| Middleware | Description |
| ----------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| RunMsgsTxMiddleware | This middleware replaces the old baseapp's `runMsgs`. |
| LegacyAnteMiddleware | This middleware is temporary, it bundles all antehandlers into one middleware. It's only created for the purpose of breaking the refactor into 2 pieces. **It will be removed in Part 2**, and each antehandler will be replaced by its own middleware. |
| IndexEventsTxMiddleware | This is a simple middleware that chooses which events to index in Tendermint. Replaces `baseapp.indexEvents` (which unfortunately still exists in baseapp too, because it's used to index Begin/EndBlock events) |
| RecoveryTxMiddleware | This index recovers from panics. It replaces baseapp.runTx's panic recovery. |
| GasTxMiddleware | This replaces the [`Setup`](https://github.com/cosmos/cosmos-sdk/blob/master/x/auth/ante/setup.go) Antehandler. It sets a GasMeter on sdk.Context. Note that before, GasMeter was set on sdk.Context inside the antehandlers, and there was some mess around the fact that antehandlers had their own panic recovery system so that the GasMeter could be read by baseapp's recovery system. Now, this mess is all removed: one middleware sets GasMeter, another one handles recovery. |

## Description
Adds the amount of coins slashed from the validator to the `Slash` event. Additionally, before this PR, the jail/slash events were emitted **BEFORE** the slash/jail functions were even ran, which could result in a false positive event if an error occurred in these functions. ~~These events were moved to the end of the functions that implement the logic for them instead.~~ This PR moves the events to be emitted after the logic is executed.
Closes: #9138
<!-- Add a description of the changes that this PR introduces and the files that
are the most critical to review. -->
- +Add `amount_slashed` to slash event
- +Slash now returns the amount of tokens burned
- +Events moved to be emitted after the logic is executed
- +Add test to test the slash return amount
~~- +Add EventType `Jail` to separate it from the `Slash` event~~
~~- +Move slash/jail events into the functions that execute the logic for it~~
~~- -Remove `Reason` attribute from slash event (didn't appear to be consistent with what was happening in code)~~

## Description
ref: #9183
After some more recent conversations w/ @aaronc, I decided to go back to his original proposal of setting up a subcommand for running in-process testnets.
This PR splits the `simd testnet` command into two subcommands:
- `simd testnet start` which starts an in-process n-node testnet
- `simd testnet init-files` which sets up configuration & genesis files for an n-node testnet to be run as separate processes (one per node, most likely via Docker Compose)

* testing: refactore Validation and Delegation handling of x/staking
This Changeset introduces set of improvements for writing tests.
The idea is to create a testing subpackage which will provide functions
to make tests more dev-friendly and wrap higher level use-cases.
Here is a show-up of of creating a service for staking module
for tests.
This PR also changes the `x/staking/types.MsgCreateValidator.Pubkey` from string
to types.Any. This change motivated the other change to show the pattern I'm describing here.

Packages named utils, common, or misc provide clients with no
sense of what the package contains. This makes it harder for
clients to use the package and makes it harder for maintainers
to keep the package focused. Over time, they accumulate dependencies
that can make compilation significantly and unnecessarily slower,
especially in large programs. And since such package names are
generic, they are more likely to collide with other packages
imported by client code, forcing clients to invent names to
distinguish them.

* Add deprecated warning, output looks like the following:
```
$ gaiacli keys update --help
Command "update" is deprecated, it takes no effect with the new keyring
based backend and is provided only for backward compatibility with the
legacy LevelDB based backend.
Refer to your operating system's manual to learn how to change your
keyring's password.
Change the password used to protect private key
Usage:
gaiacli keys update <name> [flags]
Fixes#4284
Now prints:
gaiacli query distr comission --trust-node cosmos1234
ERROR: unknown command "comission" for "distr"
Did you mean this?
commission
Adds custom argument validation for subcommands with subcommands. Doesn't affect "query" or "tx" subcommands since they reside in gaia repo. All flags except help are disabled for these commands.
Gaia is removed from cosmos-sdk repository.
Few changes were required to make sure no packages depend on gaia subpackages.
CI config is amended accordingly.
Unnecessary targets are removed from Makefile.
Simulations run through a lightweight version of gaia renamed to simapp.
All query params that are empty now returns success
(http.StatusNoContent/http.StatusBadRequest/
http.StatusInternalServerError)
Closes: #2007
This is related to issue #3741 where fetching data from
invalid store, package panic.
Modify subspace.go to return errors instead of panic.
Also update other packages that import subspace and
handle errors.
Also remove duplicate pagination:
- move function to extract query params into types/rest
- adjust pagination values locally until available in tendermint for validators
Code cleanup:
- helper function in test
- fix pagination description in swagger.yaml
- uint instead of int when possible
